The first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled steel door opens the way to climate goals
Reducing climate emissions from energy-intensive steel production and increasing steel recycling are essential to achieving climate goals. Now, the first steel door in the Nordic region, Daloc Y33, has met the requirements of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. The steel security door is manufactured in Töreboda by Daloc, which received the licence certificate at Nordbygg.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel's requirements cover the entire life cycle, from manufacturing – materials and chemicals, function and quality – to recycling or reuse. At least 75% of the steel in the door must be recycled steel or sourced from certified production.
– With the first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled steel door, an important piece is added to more sustainable construction – construction that contributes to achieving environmental and climate goals. This is welcome news for construction companies, which can easily ensure excellent environmental performance when choosing doors. The Nordic Swan is hard to get, but easy to choose, says Wilma Bäckström Nilsson, Adviser and Product Specialist at Ecolabelling Sweden.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is also a tool for companies to stay ahead of legislation and be prepared for future environmental requirements. For Daloc, the Nordic Swan Ecolabelling is an important step in its work towards a more sustainable – and ultimately climate-neutral – construction sector.
– We are proud to be the first to launch a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled steel door, demonstrating that our doors not only protect lives and property, but also our shared environment. To meet the strict certification requirements, a very thorough review has been carried out of everything from the origin and environmental impact of the materials used to the product's functional properties and energy performance, says Joel Svanström, Environmental and Sustainability Developer at Daloc.
