What is Ecodesign Forum?
The Ecodesign Forum is an expert group that will contribute to the development of the future requirements under the Ecodesign Regulation. This means that the group will formulate specific "acts" for different product areas. The files contain the requirements that are set for that particular product area.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel and Nordic Ecolabelling are one of the organisations and companies that have been given a place in the Ecodesign Forum. This gives Nordic Ecolabelling the opportunity to contribute with knowledge and experience from the work with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
The forum will contribute to, among other things:
- Develop ecodesign requirements
- Draw up work plans
- Consider a ban on destroying unsold products.
"Our participation in the Ecodesign Forum means that we as experts will have a seat at the table when the new rules under the Ecodesign Regulation are developed. It gives us the opportunity to help develop and set ambitious minimum requirements for a wide range of product groups," says Sara Bergman, Head of Sustainability and Criteria at Ecolabelling Sweden.
"The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is already based on the requirements of the Ecodesign Regulation, but sets requirements at an even more ambitious level. At the Ecodesign Forum, we get a fantastic chance to contribute with our experiences in the work for a more sustainable and circular European market, while at the same time gaining important insights into how legislation will develop and thus ensure that we are always at the forefront," concludes Sara Bergman.
