Fees for Nordic Swan Ecolabel
In most cases, companies that want to Nordic Ecolabel their products or services can expect to be billed for two fees; an application fee and an annual licence fee.
Applying for a licence for the first time
Application fee
When a company applies for a Nordic Swan Ecolabel licence for the first time, we charge an application fee. The fee is a one-off cost and covers the processing of the licence, examination of the documentation that must be attached to the application and a verification visit to the applicant (within the Nordic countries) and which is done in connection with the granting of the licence.
The application fee may vary between the different product groups depending on the number of products / recipes etc.
Ecolabelling Sweden reserves the right to decline the application after 12 months, should the applicant not actively work on its application. The application fee will not be refunded.
Annual licence fee
Once the license is granted, an annual license fee will be added based on the Nordic Swan Ecolabelled product's turnover. This fee gives the company the right to use the Nordic Swan Ecolabel on its licensed goods or services and in its marketing.
Applying for a licence renewal
Renewal fee
When new revised criteria are introduced, usually every four years, all licensees must renew their licences to show that their products or services fulfill also the new criteria by sending us a new application along with the proper documentation. A renewal fee will then be charged.
Please note that the application for renewal must be sent while the previous version of the criteria is still valid. Should the application reach us after this point, an application fee will be charged instead.
Ecolabelling Sweden reserves the right to decline the application after 12 months, should the applicant not actively work on its application. The renewal fee will not be refunded.
Other types of fees
Extension / alteration
When adding more products to the licence or changing the content of the licenced products, you will be charged a feebased on how long it takes to process the case.
Transferal of licence
Should you wish to transfer your Nordic Swan Ecolabel licence, due to merger or other reasons, 3 500 SEK will be charged for processing the case.
Cancellation of licence
A cancellation notice must be sent in writing, primarily to your contact person at Ecolabelling Sweden and secondarily to ansokan@svanen.se. We apply a three months' period of notice.
Illicit use of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel
Should a former holder of a licence / registration, without obtaining a new licence / registration, continue to use the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Ecolabelling Sweden has the right to demand financial compensation. The fee shall not be less than three thousand (3,000) EUR. The ecolabelling organization can also take legal action against illicit use of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
