1. Nordic Ecolabelling attracts eco-conscious authors to Alvina publishing house

Emma Virke, praised illustrator and last year’s Natur & Kultur picture book award-winner, makes her debut as a children’s book author this year. Although she had the opportunity to choose which publisher that would publish the book, there was never any doubt.

Ecolabelling attracts eco-conscious authors to Alvina publishing house“Emma is a shooting star within the children’s book genre and many publishing houses showed an interest in publishing her book. However, when she heard about us Nordic Ecolabelling all new books that we publish, she decided to join us”, says Kristina Hoas, Alvina Publishing House CEO.

Last summer the first-ever Nordic Ecolabelled picture book aimed at the youngest children was published by Alvina Publishing House that aspires to put the Nordic Ecolabel logo in all new titles.

Now it’s time again. With debut-author Emma Virke’s “Letter to the moon” the range of Nordic Ecolabelled children’s literature increases. A book carrying the Nordic Ecolabel is printed on certified paper whose raw material does not originate  from threatened forests. The printing house also has proven that it has fulfilled stringent Nordic Ecolabel standards regarding usage of chemicals, energy consumption and waste handling.

“I have received a lot of positive feedback from both writers and also retailers that have chosen to include the book in their catalog because of it being Nordic Ecolabelled”, says Kristina Hoas.
