Consultation – proposal for criteria for Nordic Ecolabelling for Greaseproof paper
Nordic Ecolabelling gives you the opportunity to submit your views on the proposal for criteria for Nordic Ecolabelling for Greaseproof paper. Your views are important and will be processed by the national ecolabelling boards and the Nordic Ecolabelling Board.
We look forward to your views, which must be sent to Nordic Ecolabelling no later than 30 June 2023 for consideration. See below for background documents and response forms.
The proposals for criteria has been prepared by representatives from Nordic Ecolabelling led by Niina Tanskanen, Ecolabelling Finland. Please contact remiss@svanen.se if you would like to receive a paper copy of the documents and/or a list of the bodies consulted.
The most important changes in the suggested criteria for Greaseproof paper are highlighted in the attachment below, under the criteria and background documents.
We would like to highlight the following points:
- The energy requirement (O5) and the limit value for emissions of greenhouse gases (700 kg/ADt) in O6 in the criteria proposal for Greaseproof paper. If you have comments these levels, please explain your objections by specifying which kind of fuel you use, and why you therefore consider the suggested limits a problem.
- The requirement for functional properties of the product (O13). If you have comments on the suggested tests, please explain your objections by specifying what kind of test you use, and why you consider the suggested tests to be a problem.

Who can provide input?
All persons, companies and institutions who are interested in taking part in the work on the development of criteria for Nordic Ecolabelling for Greaseproof paper, version 5.0 can assist us with opinions and comments. We would be grateful if you would send further information about this consultation to additional people/organizations that may be interested in the proposal.

What happens next?
After the completion of the consulation period, the responses will be compiled and evaluated. After that, a new revised proposal for criteria will be submitted to national boards before a final decision is taken in the Nordic Ecolabelling Board.
Part of the basis for the decision is the consultation compilation with all responses together with views from Nordic Ecolabelling. The compilation will be public and available on Ecolabelling Sweden's website in connection with the publication of the new criteria.
