Nordic Ecolabelling of transport wash installations focus on the impact a transport wash has on the environment. Large amount of water and chemicals are used in the washing process.
The aim of these criteria is to stimulate the development of resource-efficient and effective transport wash installations without hazardous discharges to air, soil or water. For that reason the requirements in the criteria concerns the following areas:
The physical conditions of the installation:
- Dimensions of wash installation and water treatment unit designed according to need
- Reduce emissions and water consumption
- Requirements regarding chemicals
- Emission controls and waste management
- Environmental management, including procedures for operation and maintenance
Fees valid from January 1st, 2019 until further notice
Application fee including one on-site inspection within the Nordic region 30 000 SEK excl. VAT. Renewal fee 15 000 SEK excl. VAT.
Annual licence fee:
Annual licence fee 0,15 % of the licence's turnover excl. VAT Minimum fee 20 000 SEK annually excl. VAT Maximum fee 350 000 SEK excl. VAT
Fee for extensions/alterations of licence:
Extension/alteration of existing licence Fees for alterations will be charged according to how long it takes to deal with the matter:
- Less than 4 hours: 3 750 SEK excl. VAT
- Between 4 and 8 hours: 7 500 SEK excl. VAT
- More than 8 hours: 15 000 SEK excl. VAT
Fees for on-site inspections:
Extra fee for additional on-site inspection within the Nordic countries 5 000 SEK excl. VAT per visit On-site inspection outside the Nordic region, but within Europe*) 15 000 SEK excl. VAT per visit On-site inspections outside Europe*)

*) There is an extra fee of 1 000 EUR per day if the inspection takes more than one day

3.2 ⇛ 3.3: Förlängning av kriteriernas giltighetstid
The validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 6 months. The new version, 3.3, is valid to 31 March 2022.
3.1 ⇛ 3.2: Utvidgning och förlängning av kriteriernas giltighetstid
The criteria have been extended with wash installations for trains and other rail transport, thereby changing the name of the product group to Transport wash installations. Furthermore, the validity of the criteria has been prolonged by 12 months. The new version, 3.2, is valid to 31 October 2021.
3.0 ⇛ 3.1: Prolongation of the validity of the criteria
On 14 December 2017 it was decided to prolong the validity of the criteria until 31 December 2020. The name of the new version is 3.1.
3.0: New criteria generation
Version 3 of Nordic Ecolabelling's criteria for vehicle wash installations has been published. The criteria are valid until 31 October 2018.

The application process starts by you downloading the application form and filling it in. You then send it to Ecolabelling Sweden.
We will register your application and send you a confirmation. You will also be assigned an advisor who will help you through the application process.
During this process, you will send in documentation that proves that your facility can successfully meet each of Nordic Ecolabelling’s requirements for vehicle wash installations.
If the supplier of your facility has a so-called basic licence for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, your application process becomes even easier because certain requirements are already reported. Please contact your supplier or your adviser to find out if this is the case.
The application consists of these parts:
- Completed application form
- Documentation overview
- Documentation showing fulfilment of all requirements according to the criteria document
Once your facility has been approved – not before, you have the right to use the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in all your marketing as long as your licence is valid.
