The Swedish Government has given Ecolabelling Sweden the overall responsibility for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel in Sweden.
We will contribute to Sweden's overall goals for consumer policy being fulfilled, that is, "well-functioning consumer markets and an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable consumption".
In 1998, the company SIS Ecolabelling AB was formed. In 2009, we changed our name to Ecolabelling Sweden AB. The company is wholly owned by the state. The business has no financial profit purpose and is financed partly through a fee from the companies that have licences and partly through a state subsidy.
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel can be found throughout the entire Nordic region
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a Nordic ecolabel, which means that the Nordic countries have the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in common. Each country has its own ecolabelling secretariat, which is responsible for the country's activities. Each secretariat handles licence applications, inspection visits and marketing in their respective countries. Each country is also responsible for its own country's position in product groups and criteria issues.
