Ecolabelling Sweden is a non-profit company. However, we charge fees to cover handling of applications, license reviewing, criteria development and marketing the Nordic Ecolabel.
Application fees
When a printing company applies for an ecolabelling licence an application fee is charged. This fee covers the administration of the application as well as an on-site audit, which must be carried out before the licence can be allocated. In addition, the applicant must cover travel expenses should the manufacturing plant be situated outside the Nordic countries.
The application fee is €2 000 (excl VAT) and includes an audit at the printing house. If the on-site audit must be conducted outside the Nordic countries, an additional fee of €500 is charged. Should the printing facility be situated outside the EU or Switzerland, an additional fee of €1 500 is charged.
Annual licence fee
The license fee is based on the amount paper the printing house uses annually. For paper usage up to 2 000 tonnes a basic fee of €1,5 per ton will be charged. When the paper usage exceeds 2 000 tonnes, the fee is lowered to €0,5 per ton. Using this scale, most printing houses will be charged €1 400 annually, our minimum fee.
Please use this calculation sheet to estimate the costs for your printing company.
Printing companies outside of Sweden
A printing company outside of Sweden or any of the other Nordic countries may sell their Nordic Ecolabelled printing objects in the Nordic countries. The procedure is to register your company at Nordic Ecolabel in Sweden, and you will automatically be able to sell your products in the Nordic countries. Your licence fee will be based on your company’s total paper consumption for products that are sold in the Nordic countries.
Cost for renewal
When the Nordic Ecolabel criteria have been revised the licensee must apply for a review. The application fee when reviewing a license is €1 000.
Maximum and minimum fees
The minimum fee for printing companies is currently €1 400. The maximum fee is €27 500, for companies which uses several thousand tonnes of paper annually.
